Course information:
A reflective five-week online journey through Advent for those who find Christmas difficult because of grief, bereavement, loneliness, illness or other significant losses.
Rooted in Scripture and Christian hope, the course offers a compassionate and supportive space for prayer, biblical reflection and honest conversation about experiences of loss, longing, lament and hope.
Because these themes are deeply personal, participants should be aware that difficult emotions, memories, or reactions may be stirred during the sessions. There is no expectation that anyone should share personal experiences, and participants are encouraged to engage at a level that feels safe and appropriate for them.
No previous biblical knowledge is required. Participants from all Christian traditions, and those exploring Christian faith, will be warmly welcomed.
Please note: this course is a Bible study and faith-based reflective programme, not a counselling, therapy or crisis-support service. Participants requiring specialist emotional, mental health or bereavement support will be encouraged to access appropriate professional services.
Weekly themes
· How Long, O Lord? (Grief and holy waiting)
· Rachel Weeping (The God who sees our tears)
· The Promise of Presence (Emmanuel in the darkness)
· The Song of Hope (Mary, grief and God’s future)
