Course Information:  Who he was, how we came to understand him, & who he is for us today. Jesus is the central figure of Christianity. But what does that actually mean—for our theology, our faith, & our day-to-day lives? In the early centuries of the church, Jesus was represented visually as the simple shepherd carrying a sheep, without pomp or ceremony. By the sixth century, this was overtaken by the image of Christ Pantocrator, the enthroned Christ who rules over all.
