Conflict is a normal everyday occurrence in all our lives – in our homes, our workplaces and in our communities. The Ammerdown Centre recognizes that many of us struggle with how to deal with differences and conflict well – in a way that prevents it escalating and can instead strengthen our relationships and communities.

If you would like to better understand conflict and gain some simple tools to address it in your life, community, or workplace – then please join us at one or more of the following series of workshops.

All workshops will be held at The Ammerdown Centre (9.30 am – 1.30 pm) and include morning tea and lunch.

Come and learn more about what leads to conflict and learn some simple tools to quickly notice when differences may lead to harmful conflict. A practical and interactive workshop for all who are interested in improving their relationships, communities and/or workplaces.

Course Leader Information :

Carolyn Merry is the Leader of The Ammerdown Centre and has over 30 years working with individuals and communities in conflict. She is a trained mediator and has facilitated hundreds of trainings around transforming conflict and building stronger communities across the UK – in workplaces, as well as with faith and other community groups.

Date TBC: Dealing with Challenging Conversations:

All of us can feel the stress of an upcoming conversation that we think will be difficult. Join us in learning some simple tools and tips for preparing and handling yourself for such conversations. This interactive workshop will give participants an opportunity to not only learn about such tips and tools but also an opportunity to practice and gain confidence in using them.

 

 

Date TBC Dealing with escalated conflict

Come and learn the stages of how conflict can escalate and some useful tools and tips for dealing with escalating conflict.

This interactive workshop will provide some practical insights into how everyday conflicts can escalate and equip participants with techniques to deal with conflict at different stages of escalating conflict – including recognizing when it is best to get some outside help.

 

Date TBC :  Meeting Well

Want to have better meetings that are productive and can handle when people passionately disagree on issues. Then come and join us on not only preparing for such meetings but also how to address conflict when it arises in meetings. This practical workshop will provide participants with tried and tested techniques for meeting well and handling differing views in the setting of meetings.

 

Date TBC : Building teams and communities who can work well with conflict (Full day: 9.30 am – 4pm).

This practical and interactive workshop is for leaders who are wanting to support their team or community to understand conflict better and how it can be handled to build stronger teams and communities. Learn some practical techniques in how to lead this process.

Note: This workshop can also be requested to be delivered directly for a specific workplace team, group or faith community.
