Are you concerned about the state of the world, but don’t know what to do to show your concern? Then you may want to join us a peace walker this September/October.
Deeply concerned about the growing division, polarisation and violence in our world, The Ammerdown Centre is supporting a new initiative by 2 peacewalkers - Wahida and Carolyn in starting an annual public act of witness for peace, justice and shared humanity that we hope will grow nationally each year.
In this first year of the Walk for Peace, we have planned 2 walks in different parts of the country. The first one will take place in Bradford, Yorkshire on Monday 21st September (The International Day of Peace) and the second will take place 12 days later on Friday 2nd October (The International Day of Nonviolence) as we walk between Wells Cathedral and The Ammerdown Centre for Peace and Reconciliation in Somerset.
We would like to encourage people of all backgrounds and ways of life who long for a more peaceful world, to join us on either walk or simply organise a walk for peace in your local area anytime in those 12 days.
We hope that these walks will create opportunities for connection, reflection and dialogue. Central to the ethos of the Walk for Peace are the values of welcome, hospitality, compassion, and encounter. We believe that meeting the stranger, listening deeply to one another and walking together are simple but powerful acts that can build a more peaceful and just society.
The world urgently needs us to Walk for Peace.
If you would like to step up for peace this September together with others who are equally concerned about peace, justice and shared humanity, then these 12 days are for you!
If you would like to join the walk in Bradford, then please download the walk flyer  here.
And if you would like to join in the Somerset Walk for Peace (all or join us along the way), then register  here  and you will be sent details of the walk and meeting points along the way.
The Walk for Peace on the 2nd October will conclude with a shared peace meal at The Ammerdown Centre. You can register to join this peace meal (with or without joining the walk) that will draw the 2026 Walk for Peace to a close on the same page.
Peace… it starts with a single step.
Join us for this inaugural event and be a 2026 Peacewalker.
