Stuart Burgess, Chair of the Ammerdown Trustees writes:
I am delighted to welcome, on behalf of the trustees, Carolyn Merry as the new Leader of the Ammerdown Centre.
Carolyn comes to Ammerdown with a great deal of experience having served as Director of ‘Place for Hope’, CEO of ‘The Feast’ and Director of ‘Sense International’. She is skilled in mediation, nonviolence and creating spaces to transform lives and build a more peaceful, just and inclusive society
At the interview the Trustees were impressed with her vision for Ammerdown and we offer her our full support as she begins her work
Carolyn Merry writes:
The Ammerdown Centre has been a special place of deep hospitality, peace and reconciliation for over 50 years. I feel privileged and blessed to take up leading the Ammerdown Centre in the extraordinary times in which we now live.
With hard-won, democratic rights under threat, decreasing trust in social institutions, leaders and media, environmental collapse, and increasing inequity, polarisation, and violence around the world, there has never been a greater need for people to experience a peaceful and spiritual space as well as gain access to learning that will grow their understanding, skills and confidence to engage with and transform the most difficult issues and divides in our world.
I look forward to working with the wonderful team and trustees at The Ammerdown Centre to build on its proud history of being just such a place, by growing our work locally, nationally and internationally as a centre for peace, nonviolence, reconciliation, joy and hope needed for just such Kairos times as these.
