Zazenkai - Zen Gifts

Zazenkai is a silent day of Zen practice which includes sitting meditation (zazen) interspersed with walking meditation (kinhin). The day is a practice of attentiveness to the breath which, together with the stillness of the body, helps to free the mind from its ordinary mental activities and offers an insight into the oneness of life. Practice leads to an awareness which we can carry into the rest of our everyday life with all its challenges and changing circumstances.

Led by: Mark Scholefield & Steve Crowther

9.30am for 10.00am until 4.15pm. For those new to Zen, there is an introduction at 9.30am. Includes coffee, lunch and afternoon tea.

Zen is a gift which can deepen the contemplative experience for Christians and for those from any faith or tradition.

Ammerdown Zazenkai days are facilitated by Mark Scholefield and Stephen Crowther, both longstanding Zen practitioners. They are a good introduction for those new to Zen practice as well as preparation for a sesshin – a longer Zen retreat.

For those interested in Zen practice, please note that Zazenkai are being held at Ammerdown on 23rd February, 21st September and 7th December. A short Zen retreat will also take place on 21/22nd September to follow on from the Zazenkai. Our Zen sesshin, a residential retreat led by Fr Robert Kennedy Roshi, is from 3rd to 8th May.
