What does Ammerdown want from you?

What we are hoping you can bring is a contribution in most of the following areas:

1. The wish and (developing) capacity to contribute to the prayer life of Ammerdown. This will mean taking part in daily community prayer, joining visiting groups and the governors in prayer and planning and leading such prayer.

2. Acting as host/hostess. This means being available to welcome people to the Centre, join visitors at meals and in the lounge and bar. It also means being attentive to the spiritual and emotional needs of the visitors and providing a listening ear for those who come to Ammerdown, in part, to find human contact and comfort.

3. Doing regular, pre-arranged work for the Household Manager for a few hours every week.

4. Providing weekend cover one weekend out of two, on a rota basis.

5. In consultation with the Director, to take up some area of work which meets one of the Centre’s needs and in which you have a personal interest as well as relevant knowledge and skills.

Above all we want people who have a strong spiritual life, a good sense of humour, good health and can laugh at themselves, a wish to be of service and the ability and will to work and live in close contact with others.
