Residential: £339, Non-residential: £226

Please arrive by 6pm on Monday.  Course ends after breakfast on Friday.

As we go through life adapting to situations and trying to protect ourselves from the wounds of life, it is possible to create a unique variety of defence structures designed to protect the EGO. These egocentric patterns make up the false self. It is in confronting these false selves and embracing them that we can free the true self and live in a more authentic way.

Hildegard of Bingen sees the soul as a precious field from which we must root out the useless grasses, thorns, briars, in order to reveal the beauty of God’s image. We may see this activity as the STRUGGLE FOR AUTHENCITY.

During the retreat there will be time to reflect on the true self and on the self esteem that goes to the heart of our personal identity. There will also be time to look at some of the ‘unfreedoms’ that stand in the way of our personal growth.

Sister Germaine O’Neill is a Loreto Sister who spent 37 years as a missionary in Kenya. Since coming back to the UK in 2000, she has been involved in retreat work, spiritual guidance and individual counselling. Her experience has shone through in her previous retreats at Ammerdown, with participants commenting on the gentle way in which she creates a space where everyone can feel safe and free to be themselves.
