Praying with Music – Elgar, the greatness and struggle of the human heart

Euan Tait, is a gifted musician and singer as well as an experienced trainer, liturgist and preacher. During this weekend, he aims to share with you his love of Elgar’s music, but in a way that is rarely explored: as the starting point of a spiritual journey and voyage of discovery.

Euan Tait is a gifted musician and singer as well as an experienced trainer and preacher. During this weekend , he aims to share with you hi love of Elgar's music, but in a way that is rarely explored: as the starting point oa a spiritual journey and voyage of discovery.

Euan writes: 'Elgar's music portrays, the struggle to be human - he has a vision of the greatness of his humanity, but the battle and longing of that journey is what gives his music its underlying energy, emotion and power.  This weekend will give us a chance to pray through the inner life of Elgar's works, concentrating in particular on the symphonies and the three major choral works, allowing new and encouraging insights for our own journey.'

Throughout the weekend, ther will be a mixture of listening deeeeply to the music, meditating on it and delving into it through talks and group discussions, interspersed with times prayer and quiet reflection.
