MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

Friday 5 November to Sunday 7 November

Residential: £185, Non-residential: £123

Please arrive by 6pm on Friday.  Course ends with lunch on Sunday.

Mindfulness (present moment awareness) is becoming increasingly recognised as a particularly effective means of counteracting stress and increasing the sense of personal well-being. This weekend is designed primarily for those who have not meditated before or who have only limited experience. Sessions will include periods of seated practice using ordinary chairs; no special postures are used. Techniques and concepts come mainly from the Buddhist tradition but no attempt is made to promote any particular faith; mindfulness meditation is of universal relevance. The course will introduce a variety of relaxing and insightful mindfulness techniques (including walking meditation) - all experienced within the quiet, reflective and supportive environment provided by Ammerdown. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

John Preston trained for five years as a Monk at a Buddhist meditation monastery. He has led this course at Ammerdown for many years and has always been well received: “John shares a deep knowledge of a complex subject with clarity, great warmth and humour”; “One of the most wonderful aspects of the course has been beginning to understand the power of mind. Many thanks for all the help and advice. I learned so much.”
