LIVING AUTHENTICALLY-

Putting your values into action

Friday 5 November to Sunday 7 November

Residential: £185, Non-residential: £123

Please arrive by 6pm on Friday.  Course ends with lunch on Sunday.

Living life authentically requires looking closely at our values and examining how we live them out. Only then can we recognise damaging behaviour, thought and communication patterns, and begin to learn and practice new ways of interacting - using compassion and nonviolence to transform relationships of oppression and violence.

Participants in this weekend workshop will have space to reflect on and share what living authentically means for you/us, and explore how living authentically can be a force of positive social change. We will work in a participatory, organic way. The methods include everything from whole/small group discussions, games, drama, drawing, quiet reflection time, DVDs and much more.

Participants of the 2009 course said:

*  “We covered a lot of ground and were challenged in our perceptions, but it happened in the gentlest way”;

*  “Lots of information to build on; lots of laughter, experimenting with new things, good cooperative use of power”;

* “A helpful weekend in reaffirming lots of things and clearing a way ahead. I hope I have the courage to follow it and act upon my thoughts and ideas from these two days!”.

The weekend will be led by a joint team from organisations Turning the Tide and St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace. ‘Turning the Tide’ www.turning-the-tide.orgis a Quaker nonviolence training programme with more than 10 years’ experience helping concerned citizens, activists and campaigners to make changes in their own lives so that they can affect change on a social and political level. ‘St Ethelburga's Centre’www.stethelburgas.org aims to inspire and equip people to practise reconciliation and peacemaking in their own lives and communities.
