Living Zen

Zazenkai is a silent day of Zen practice which includes sitting meditation (zazen) interspersed with walking meditation (kinhin). For those new to Zen, there is an introduction at 9.30am.
The day is a practice of attentiveness to the breath which, together with the stillness of the body, helps to free the mind from its ordinary mental activities and offers an insight into the oneness of life. Practice leads to an awareness we can carry into our everyday life with all its challenges and changing circumstances.

Led by: Mark Scholefield & Steve Crowther

9.30am for 10.00am on Saturday. Choice of finishing either at 4.15pm on Saturday (Zazenkai) or with lunch
on Sunday (Short Retreat).

“Zazen practice is the direct expression of our true nature.” (Shunryu Suzuki)
“If you are afraid of being grabbed by God, don’t look at a wall. Definitely don’t sit still.” (Jiyu Kennet)

Zen is a gift which can deepen the contemplative experience for Christians and those from any faith or tradition.
The Zazenkai/Short Retreat is facilitated by Mark Scholefield and Steve Crowther who are longstanding Zen practitioners. It is a good introduction for those new to Zen practice
