A FEAST OF CHINESE BRUSH PAINTING

Maggie Cross spent her childhood in Hong Kong, where she studied brush painting and also learnt to speak Cantonese and write Chinese characters. She introduced Chinese Brush Painting to Ammerdown in 2006 and was an immediate success. Maggie has proven to be an excellent tutor as well as a gifted artist, and our guests have been amazed at what they managed to achieve in the space of a few days – even complete beginners!

This mid-week course will give participants time to learn or re-visit the basic brushstrokes and then develop them into simple compositions. Maggie will cover a variety of subjects, from flowers and birds to animals, landscapes and figures. This will enable participants to decide on the style which suits them best. They will use traditional Chinese materials as well as paint on silk or paper.

Maggie Cross www.maggie-cross.co.uk is a member of The Chinese Brush Painters’ Society. She regularly exhibits her work and frequently lectures and teaches on the subject. Please note: Participants will be given a list of basic items to bring with them. Traditional brush painting materials will be available for loan or sale from the tutor.
