The Language of Prayer

Friday 26 June to Sunday 28 June
Residential: £175, Non-residential: £117

Please arrive by 6pm on Friday. Course ends with lunch on Sunday.

Have you ever wondered how the Jewish religion approaches prayer, and the common ground and differences among Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist prayer and praying? What can we learn by sharing our different traditions?

Janet Berenson invites you to bring along one or two of your favourite prayers, hymns or other liturgical pieces. She writes: “Together we will examine the concepts underlying prayer and its language, sharing our personal responses to the prayers we bring. I will offer insights into Hebrew prayers and the Christian prayers that have arisen from the Jewish tradition. We will create our own inter-faith prayer service, including composing our own prayers as well as using those we have brought. (Please bring your texts ready to be photocopied and music/sung texts on CD) to share. Followers of all faiths and none are welcome.”

For more details about the speaker, see the entry for Janet’s other course on 5 to 7 June 2009.
