Photography and Spirituality

Please arrive by 6pm on Friday. Course ends with lunch on Sunday.

Michael Woodward is both a gifted photographer and an experienced retreat giver. It is this combination of tailored technical input and advice on how to use photography as a spiritual tool that makes his Ammerdown photography weekends unique.

Michael is keen on sharing his insights and experience with others equally keen to use photography as a way of deepening their relationship with God and creation. He writes: “My aim is for us to be a photographic ‘community’ for the weekend. Together, we will explore how we may use the camera and lens as a means of spiritual expression. We will work as a group as well as individually. We will first undertake some practical work, using the beautiful surroundings of Ammerdown, and reflect upon the experience. We will then spend some time processing images to achieve different effects, and reflect upon ways of sharing your work.”

To see some of Michael’s photographs, visit www.shotwithspirit.com. Michael is also a published poet, has edited the Merton Journal and now runs Three Peaks Press. He was elected in 2003 leader of the Lay Community of Saint Benedict.
