 LANDSCAPES OF PRAYER

Monday 12 to Friday 16 March

Residential: £349, Non-residential: £233

Please arrive by 12 noon on Monday. Course ends with lunch on Friday.

Celebrated retreat leader Margaret Silf returns to Ammerdown to lead a week based on her recently published book, ‘Landscapes of Prayer’.

She writes: “Our relationship with different kinds of natural landscape can help us enter into prayer in fresh ways at different times of our lives. This retreat offers an opportunity to explore some inner landscapes of the heart, looking at the ways in which each of them invites us into prayer in a particular way and helps us to connect to the mystery of God in our lived experience. Nine ‘landscapes’ will be explored during the week: garden, river, desert, cave, (urban) jungle, mountain, seashore, forest, and night sky.”

The retreat presentations will include examples from ordinary life, anecdotes, a scripture reflection and some guidelines for finding a fresh approach to prayer. There will also be reflective exercises, leaving participants free to discover for themselves what the landscape means for them in their own lives, and how they might engage with it in their own personal ways. In addition, there will be opportunities for those who wish to share the ways they have found their own pathways to God through the landscapes of their lives.

Margaret Silf is an ecumenical lay Christian, committed to working across and beyond the denominational divides and to accompanying people on their spiritual journey. She is the author of a number of books on the spiritual journey for 21st century pilgrims who may or may not identify with institutional religion. She is a regular and much-loved contributor at Ammerdown: “Outstanding, unique - she relates, welcomes, informs, stimulates, listens, supports, includes”; Encouraged me to question what I really think about what I believe in a genuinely helpful way”.

Margaret SIlf will also be leading acontemplativefire.org event in April.
