Dialogue is a type of conversation very distinctive from discussion or debate. It was initially developed by David Bohm, a quantum physicist and philosopher, who brought together ideas from spiritual practices, social psychology and quantum physics. Dialogue creates a container for all dimensions of our life - the spiritual, the psychological, the philosophical and the cultural. By talking and listening together, a group can generate new perspectives and understandings from the diversity of views expressed.

Gill Wyatt, an experienced ‘dialogue’ facilitator and workshop leader, will facilitate the weekend. We will explore some theories of dialogue and learn the skills of dialogue through the use of experiential exercises and group discussions. In particular, we will learn how to develop openness to different opinions, and explore our embedded personal and cultural assumptions. As we transform the way we talk and listen to each other by practicing these new skills, we will discover the power of dialogue as shared meanings emerge from this creative and transformative process.

Gill Wyatt has been a nurse, psychotherapist and trainer. She has published three edited books in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. And has just completed a two year spiritual retreat. She works as a consultant and facilitator of 'conversation technologies'.
