CHRISTIAN ARTS CONFERENCE - The spiritualities of classical and contemporary art

 Friday 4 June to Sunday 6 June                                                                              Residential: £185, Non-residential: £123

Please arrive by 6pm on Friday.  Course ends with lunch on Sunday.

Many contemporary works of art have a resonance that gives them a wider meaning. Charles Pickstone will consider, with visual presentation, a very wide range of artists, classical and contemporary, such as Giotto, Chardin, Kandinsky and Kitaj. He will explore different ways in which artists, consciously or unconsciously, endow their work with connections that link it to other dimensions of meaning. He will also touch on the final question: Is there an ultimate source of meaning to which all these different spiritualities bear witness?

Charles Pickstone is vicar of St Laurence Church, Catford. He is a practising art critic and a trustee and founder member of ACE (Art & Christianity Enquiry) - a leading educational charity in the field of Art and Religion. He has written widely for major publications on art and theology and in 2006 was awarded the Bernard Denvir Prize for Art Criticism.
