Chinese Brush Painting- Autumn Fruits and Seeds

Celebrated tutor Maggie Cross returns to Ammerdown for a course with an autumn theme. Using the wide variety of autumn bounty you will be able to paint autumn fruits and seeds as part of the growing plant or as a still life.  You will use traditional Chinese materials and techniques. The focus will very much be on the beautiful colours of autumn. You will experiment with colour mixing and brush loading.  To add interest to your composition Maggie will demonstrate small creatures such as mice and squirrels.

Maggie spent her childhood in Hong Kong, where she studied brush painting and also learnt to speak Cantonese and write Chinese characters. She is a member of The Chinese Brush Painters’ Society and the Society of Floral Painters. She regularly exhibits her work and also frequently lectures and teaches on the subject. She has published three books. She is one of Ammerdown’s most popular art tutors. This is not surprising: she has shown herself to be an excellent teacher as well as a gifted artist, and our guests have been amazed at what they managed to achieve in the space of a few days – even complete beginners.

Maximum number 12, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Participants will be given a list of basic items to bring with them. Traditional brush painting materials will be available for loan or sale from the tutor.

Led by: Maggie Cross

Please arrive for 12 noon on Monday. Course ends with lunch on Friday
