A Spirituality of Enough

This topic seems more relevant than ever in a world where millions lack basic necessities, whilst millions of us in the West live lives of indulgence. At what cost, though? As human beings, we all need to feel in harmony with ourselves and the environment in which we live. Yet a relentless emphasis on productivity and material success means that many of us have lost the necessary rhythm of life. How long before we discover that well-being and harmony are not provided by the acquisition of material things? And when we do, where does it leave us? W. Muller writes: “A life of enough is born every moment – in the way we listen, the way we respond to the world, the way we see what is and tell the truth of who we are.” Is it possible for us to strive for a spirituality of living in the moment with simplicity and gratitude?

The retreat will be led by Sr Germaine O’Neill. She writes: “This retreat will provide an ideal opportunity to pause, listen and reflect. We will listen to what present-day spiritual writers are saying. And we will listen to each other and to our own hearts, seeking God’s wisdom and guidance.”

Sr Germaine is a Loreto Sister who spent 37 years as a missionary in Kenya. Since coming back to the UK in 2000, she has been involved in retreat work, spiritual guidance and individual counselling. She is a regular retreat leader at Ammerdown, much loved for her gentle guidance and profound wisdom.

Led by: Sr Germaine O'Neill

Please arrive for 6pm Monday. Course ends with breakfast on Friday.
